From September 28- October 4th , Vancouver Fashion Week will be welcoming over 100 international and local designers, from 25 countries, to showcase their SS 2016 collections.
Whether a designer is already established, or just emerging into the industry, they depend on the power of social media. In light of this, we asked the designers to pick a blogger, editor or influencer who they feel represent their brand. The finished product was up to the creative direction of the Designer and Blogger.
With only 1 day to go; take a closer look at the collections of Lepschy, Liann Bellis, Mia Amica and Celina Porter.
LEPSCHY x Markéta Hejzlarová
Designer: Monika Lepschy
Blogger: Markéta Hejzlarová
Monika is a recent graduate of Ladislav Sutnar’s Faculty of Art and Design in Pilsen where she reached her Masters degree. During her studies, she took part in a wide range of competitions and won numerous awards. Some of Monika’s most significant achievements include a six-month internship in Amsterdam in Conny Groenewegen studio where Monika helped design shoes for an international clothing company SACHA.
In 2013 she created a collection of shoes and accessories inspired by the structure of spider fiber, which won the Arts of Fashion Competition in San Francisco (USA) in the fashion footwear and accessories category with the theme Resilience (Resistance). Thanks to winning the competition Monika could participate in an intense four-week internship at the prestigious Fashion Masterclass in Paris, which is focusing on haute couture fashion and pleating. The interesting fact is that the women’s shoes from the “Resilience” collection were the first shoes which she designed. Well Monika, quite a decent performance to start with!
In 2014, Monika was approached by Italian company Fedrigoni, the producer of the premium creative papers, with a project to create paper shoes, which would represent the company at the Vienna Design Week 2014. Monika created two pairs of women’s shoes for the Vienna Fedrigoni showroom. These shoes, impregnated with resin, can stay immersed in water all night without loss of quality. Monika was a great success in Vienna, therefore the Fedrigoni company decided to continue to support her.
In 2015, Monika was selected by the coordinators of Vancouver Fashion Week 2016 to present her designs there. For this occasion, Monica has prepared a brand new collection of footwear, apparel and fashion accessories Spring / Summer 2016 with the name “Thank you Marcus !”.
This young lady is currently designing custom-made clothes, shoes and fashion accessories. She likes to experiment with unusual materials and technological processes and she is looking for the boundaries of her field.
Take a glimpse into Monika’s collection being showcased by her blogger of choice- Markéta Hejzlarová.

MIA AMICA collections are continuously gaining popularity by their up-to-date touch over the Indonesian traditional fabrics, known as ‘batik’ (hand-drawn or hand-stamped or combination of both) and ‘tenun’ (hand-woven), with contemporary design and the application of charming embellishments, embroideries, sequins, laser-cutting, and digital-printing.

Comfort and proud of wearing the products of MIA AMICA will always be a rewarding achievement from our customers. MIA AMICA contrives the meticulous best fashion for women in Indonesia and worldwide.
The concept for the collection is ‘blue zone’- the collection is highly dominated by various blue tone. To balance it out, MIA AMICA adds white color which makes it more elegant for Spring/ Summer, do you agree? Even better, it adds some ornaments to cheer up your Spring/Summer with embroideries, sequins, and digital-printed fabrics. As for the pattern, we can definitely see the real Spring and Summer with clouds, birds, and flowers.
Of course fashion will never be complete without the touch of beauty. Jessica herself is a natural beauty, so we didn’t put much makeup on her. Spring/Summer is meant for natural, flawless makeup. So we just add earthy colors just like the MIA AMICA Spring/Summer collection.
The new collection from MIA AMICA will be available in Vancouver Fashion Week (VFW) Spring/Summer 2016 (September 28 – October 4 2015). If you’re visiting VFW, you should attend MIA AMICA collection showroom or watch, on the runway, Thursday, October 1st 2015.
